August has something for everyone. Especially if you love the great outdoors.
And if you do, start planning your month’s content now. You’ll want to slip out of the office early to enjoy all the sun, sports and entertainment on offer.
Music lovers around the world are certainly spoiled for choice:
Cult ’90s festival Lollapalooza is still going strong from the 2nd, while European up-and-comer, Budapest’s Sziget Music Festival, kicks off on the 8th. We round out the month with Burning Man from the 26th on.
True to summer months, August also promises a lot of big sporting events.
The end of the month sees pan-Atlantic sports favorites like the Vuelta a Espana bike race in Spain starting on the 25th and the US Tennis Open on the 27th.

Meanwhile the world’s largest arts event—the Edinburgh Fringe Festival—will occupy almost the entire month from the 3rd to the 27th.
The festival doesn’t bear the title ‘world’s largest’ lightly. Last year it set new records with 2,696,884 tickets sold to 53,232 performances of 3,398 shows seen by 450,000 people!
For the less high-brow among us, the 8th is also International Cat Day.
Other more oddball days include National Lazy Day (#LazyDay), International Lefthanders Day (#LefthandersDay), and National Tell a Joke Day (#NationalTellAJokeDay).
