June 1-4
If you’re a beverage brand, nothing better compliments a hot summer day with a cold drink (shameless plug: Check out our Carlsberg Case Study). Tell your followers to enjoy a nice cold beverage in celebration of Marilyn Monroe’s birthday. The timeless fashion beauty was born on June 1, 1926.

This first weekend of June kicks off with a weekend filled with good vibes. The Governors Ball Music Festival is happening June 3-5 in New York City. This event features musical headliners such as Chance The Rapper, Phoenix, Schoolboy Q, and Tool. A lot of local and national brands get in on this big weekend.

The month’s first weekend also features one of soccer’s (or football’s depending one where you’re reading this) biggest events of the year. The UEFA Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid is on June 3. Juventus has shone despite losing one of its top players. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will hit the field with crowd pleaser, eye candy and popular meme muse, Cristiano Ronaldo. As a side note, the Black Eyed Peas will be adding an otherwise absent touch of ‘Murrica to the opening ceremony in Cardiff, Wales.

Social media campaigns:

June 5-11
The second week of June promises more great moments in sports, including one of the biggest events in tennis. Before that though, June 5 is World Environment Day. Brands looking to simply capitalize on this event should proceed with caution: an ill-considered post from an inappropriate brand could go toxic. However, nonprofits and environmental groups should have a field day on this day.

June 8 is National Best Friends Day in the US, a great opportunity to make some connections. The weekend also features Women’s and then Men’s Finale in the French Open. Game on!

World Environment Day – Monday, June 5
National Best Friends Day – Thursday, June 8
Orange is the New Black release date – Friday, June 9
2017 French Open Women’s Final – Saturday, June 10
2017 French Open Men’s Final – Sunday, June 11
71st Annual Tony Awards – Sunday, June 11

June 12-18
The third week brings yet another sporting highlight. The 117th US Open Championship is taking place at the Erin Hills Golf Course in Wisconsin from June 12-18. Last year, a controversial ruling didn’t stop Dustin Johnson from winning – but it did set the Twittersphere afire as fans rallied to his support. #TheOpen is one of the biggest in the golf world and social media will be watching at every hole. Armchair and self-professed golf stars can also get the recognition they deserve on Father’s Day.

World Blood Donor Day – Wednesday, June 14
US Open Golf –  June 15-18
Tupac Shakur’s birthday – Friday, June 16
Le Mans Auto Racing – Saturday, June 17
Father’s Day – Sunday, June 18

Social Media Campaign:

June 19th – 26th
The week of the 19th brings us a ton of ideas for this social media calendar. One of the biggest for social media will be National Selfie Day! Teens and moms alike will be posting their selfies during this day. What’s the best selfie your followers can send over in a campaign?

This week continues the sports theme, yet this is a different major sports – the 2017 NBA Draft. The Boston Celtics will be picking #1 in this year’s draft followed by future NBA Champs, LA Lakers. Finally, the weekend brings us Pride Week, a weekend of support and love.

National Refugee Day – Tuesday, June 20th.
National Selfie Day – Wednesday, June 21st.
International Day of Yoga  – Wednesday, June 21st.
2017 NBA Draft – Thursday, June 22nd.
NYC Pride – June 23-25th.
BET Awards – June 25th.

June 27th – End of the month
The end of June means that we’re officially past the midpoint of 2017. Time flies and it can be stressful thinking of all the things that have yet to be completed. After finishing off the weekend with NYC Pride and the BET Awards, it’s time to get a break in. We’ve left this portion of our calendar open so that you can get your creative juices flowing and end June with your brand’s own social media happenings. Remember to start prepping for July at this time,  the summer holiday break falls in the first week this year.

Have a fantastic and creative June! Enjoy the start of the summer high; we’ll help to keep the season buzz going with our July social calendar, coming at the end of the month.
